About Dzukou Valley:

Dzukou Valley is located at the border of the Indian states of Nagaland and Manipur where most of the valley is in the Manipur region. Situated at an altitude of 2438m above from the sea level is just behind the Japfu peak. The valley is well known for its natural beauty, seasonal flowers and the overall flora and fauna. The valley is popularly known as the “Valley of flowers of the North East” and is a paradise for nature lovers.

Mostly visited during the full bloom season, the beauty of the valley is best appreciated when lilies in white and pink, aconitums, euphorbias, and hundreds of other botanical species in varied colours adorn the valley in monsoon.

Dzukou Valley looks like a mown lawn from a distance watered by two meandering streams, the Dzukou and the Japfu Rivers. The valley is famous for its wide range of flower in every season. But the most famous one is the dzuko lily. This picturesque valley and its vast meadow give a scenario which can spellbind every visitor.

How to reach:

To reach the Dzukou Valley you shall first need to get to Dimapur, which is the only place in Nagaland that is connected by flight and trains to the rest of the India. Then you need to take a cab or a bus to reach Kohima, the capital city of Nagaland and the nearest city to Dzukou Valley, which is 74 kms away from Dimapur. After arriving in Kohima get a Taxi from the local Taxi Stand to Zakhama Village, which is an ideal base point for Dzukou Valley. After that you need to trek for 3-4 hours from Zakhama Village to reach the majestic valley. Guides and porters can also be hired, although the trekking pathway is well paved and there are a number of sign boards to show you the way.

Trek distance: 20 kms

Things to carry: A tent, A Torch, Match box or a lighter to light fire, cooking tools as there is no facility for fooding in Dzukou Valey, Warm Cloths and nourishment or light snacks.

Best time to visit: From May to October, the best time to visit the valley is during the monsoons when the flowers blossoms to their best and the Valley is lush green, the river flows with more extravaganza.

No special permit is required for Dzukou Valley. There is an entry fee of Rs. 30 per person for entering Dzukou Valley. The locals are very helpful to show the directions of the Valley and the path is very well organized and directions are very helpful tool to reach the Valley.
